At the beginning few tools are necessary to carry out the task. These include a mandrel, a jeweler’s saw, wire cutters and safety glasses. Initially wrap the gold wire around the mandrel. Make sure the coil is at right angles to the axis of the mandrel. The goal is to create even gold filled jump rings. Pull the wire tight as you wrap it and keep under pressure. After using the gold wire slide the resulting coil from the metal bar.
If you have a jeweler's saw, run a strip of masking tape along the gold filled wire. Hold the gold filled jump rings together prior to cutting into the coil. As per your desire you can cut from inside the coil out or cut from outside the coil into the center. Gold filled jump rings are integral to gold filled jewelry making and are not very difficult to craft. If you are a beginner it is but natural that you will commit a few mistakes. However with practice you will become an expert and be able to produce gold filled jump rings in a plethora of sizes and shapes.
